We were delighted to be part of the Other Art Fair in July, with so many fantastic artists and art lovers alike gathered under the arches of Brunel’s Passenger Shed.
Alongside our good friends The Old Bookshop we set up camp right in the centre of the action to keep the crowds’ thirst suitably quenched!
Inspired by Hazel Mountford’s stunning paintings we set about creating a cocktail to perfectly compliment her art. The result was a naughty little number we like to call the Shiraz Bramble.
Quintessentially British, a typical bramble is consisted of gin (what else), lemon juice and sugar syrup with a dash of Crème de Mure to balance the sourness. We put a twist on the classic cocktail by replacing the Crème de Mure with Shiraz.
We think the plummy red wine is a really tasty addition. It’s a sour and refreshingly dry drink with a warming sweet kick. Not for the faint hearted, but its pretty delicious.
Next time you see the Gin Hive out and about, why don’t you pop by and give it a go? Or is red wine and gin just a step too far…?
